Resources

Resources used in my writing work. Content will vary over time as trends and usefulness comes and goes.

Software

Microsoft Word https://office.microsoft.com/

My primary writing application.

Notepad++https://notepad-plus-plus.org/

Used when I need to manipulate a lot of basic text, usually because I need to do some kind of clean-up operation. Also used when editing HTML and JSON content.

Calibrehttps://calibre-ebook.com/

Used for managing my eBook collection, but also useful when reviewing any eBooks generated by other software, where you can edit the html content. Also generates eBooks from source files like Word.

Paint.Nethttps://www.getpaint.net/

Used if I need to do some basic graphics manipulation as it’s quick and easy to use, and free. I also use Affinity software if demands for artwork increase.

Greenshothttps://getgreenshot.org/

I use Greenshot as my screen capture tool, a bit more flexible than the Windows print screen capture.

AnyBurnhttp://www.anyburn.com/

I use this to perform off-PC backups of my work. USB drives can be used as well but this is really the proper backup as it can be stored away from the house and cannot electrically fail as USB sticks/HDD’s can. Obviously you still have the physical security issue.

Websites

Websites resources can vary, as it’s very much dependent on what interest you have in your work. But my current go-to websites are as follows;

(Note that at the moment this list is undefined, as I haven’t had chance to review them and they are very specific to my needs, therefore I’m determining if there is any use having a list here.)
