Writing Targets

I’m not writing much at all at the moment, certainly not creative content.  To that end, I am going to set down the targets I will achieve to up the writing, starting Monday 28 May 2012.

  • 500 journal words a day
  • Two blog posts a week, Mondays and Thursdays
  • Working on one creative piece every day

This post is going to be my first Monday post (late, not an auspicious start).  I’ve done my 500 words for today, although yesterday (Monday) I did the grand total of 68.  I’ve not worked on any creative peices yet this week.  My blog post for monday will be a review of the writing completed that week and my thoughts on what I have achieved.

On an alternate note, I have been reading Ray Bradburys ‘Zen in the Art of Writing‘, which is an interesting text.  I have this notion that I need to read this stuff, but also that there is no substitute for writing oneself.  One area it has highlighted is the need for passion in what you are writing, which I’ll give consideration to in my fiction work and also what areas I may write non-fiction wise.  I suspect IT articles will actually be low down on that list, as I find it difficult to get passionate about these things these days.

Anyway, my targets are there and we’ll see how I get on.
